“A Night At The Palace” – THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT

Last Thursday and Friday night saw The Palace Theatre come to life with our very own Variety Show entitled a “Night At The Palace”. The packed audiences were entertained to the highest standard by those groups who use our Centre daily. It was purely an exhibition of talent in Drama, Music, Song and Comedy provided by all ages. We are delighted with the support given by our Community as all tickets were sold out by 11am on the Friday morning.

The show was directed by Killian Collins, choreographed by Stephen Cullinane O Regan and musically directed by Aoife Collins with Kieran Prendergast delivering quality sound and lighting techniques. It has to be said that these professional people, all experts in their chosen field, gave of their time voluntary which exhibits their commitment to ensuring the success of The Palace Theatre and Fermoy Community Youth Centre.

Of course we cannot forget the Cast of brilliant and fantastic actors, musicians, dancers, singers who gave so much of their free time to this event.  Their enormous talent demonstrated and gave a true picture of what takes place here in this Centre and the quality of instructors / teachers we have on board that has made this Centre the success it is today and such a fantastic facility within our Community.

We would also like to thank our sponsors, Hanleys, Pearse Sq., Fermoy: Herlihy’s Centra, Fermoy: Hickeys Fermoy: Pat O Mahony Plumbing, Ballyhooly: Fermoy Enterprise Board; Shaws, Fermoy; and Cavanaghs, Cork Road, Fermoy.

A special thanks to special guests Michael Sands and Carol Ann Ryan from Cork Opera House for participating in the performances.

We wish John O Mahony, Fermoy Active Retirement,  the very best of luck in the final of the Over 60’s Competition which will take place in City Hall, Cork on Sunday 8th June next.

Social Dancing in the Palace Dance Hall

Tonight at 8:00pm (Thursday 29th) sees the holding of our last night’s dancing for this season. We missed out last Thursday as many wished to attend the Centre’s Night At The Palace performance and word on the street is that they were thrilled with the entertainment.   This Thursday Nights Dance is FREE to all and we here in the Centre wish to thank all our “twinkle toes” for their support and hope that you will enjoy the Summer break.

It is also worth noting that the proceeds of our Dances over the last few months went towards the purchase of the Defibrillator Unit which is now display in our Main hallway and the proceeds from our Adrian Ryan Dance has been allocated to our Dance Hall Renovation Fund.  When you return to the Dance floor in Sept / Oct we hope that our upgrade will be completed – something to look forward to.  On behalf of the Centre I wish to thank you all for your financial support for without which we could not upgrade our excellent facilities.

Community Development Draw

The weekly Draw has reached the €16,000 Jackpot and the Reserve Jackpot is €3,600.00.  The Community Draw Cards cards are available at various outlets around the town and if you don’t buy a line for €2 well, you just are not in for a chance!!!!!

The Draw takes place each Wednesday Night during the Bingo Interval around 9.15pm.  If you have bought a line during the week and your phone rings around 9.15pm, then maybe its news that you have won our Jackpot or even some of our consolation prizes.
